Screening for Plagiarism Policy
To uphold academic integrity, all manuscripts submitted to Jagadhita Business Review (JBR) must undergo a plagiarism screening process before entering the peer-review stage.
1. Plagiarism Detection Tools
-
JBR uses Turnitin or equivalent plagiarism detection software to evaluate manuscript originality.
-
The similarity report will be reviewed by the editorial team prior to further processing.
2. Similarity Threshold
-
Manuscripts with a similarity index greater than 20% (excluding references, quotations, and commonly used phrases) will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright.
-
Manuscripts with minor similarity (below 20%) may still be accepted if proper citations are provided and there is no indication of intentional plagiarism.
3. Types of Plagiarism
The following are considered plagiarism and will not be tolerated:
-
Direct plagiarism: copying text from another source without citation.
-
Self-plagiarism: reusing significant portions of one’s own published work without acknowledgment.
-
Mosaic plagiarism: mixing copied phrases or ideas from multiple sources without proper attribution.
-
Improper paraphrasing: rewording another’s ideas without correct citation.
4. Editorial Action
-
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
-
If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article may be retracted following COPE’s retraction guidelines.
-
The editorial board reserves the right to notify the author’s institution in cases of serious misconduct.
5. Author Responsibility
-
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is free of plagiarism by conducting their own plagiarism checks prior to submission.
